Dalit anger not just a political challenge but an ideological threat to parivar's politics of Hindutva
The manifest dalit anger is not just a political challenge to BJP but throws up an ideological challenge to the saffron parivar's politics of Hindutva. While the Hindutva reinforces a monolithic Hindu identity the hierarchical social structure that see dalits as Outcastes is contradiction in itself. The BJP finds it hard to assimilate dalits into its political idiom through symbolic gestures like choosing a dalit leader for the party chief and the president of India. But, the fringe within the parivar refuses to accord equal status to dalits. The RSS chief's repudiation of reservations, the government's failure to swiftly respond to apex court verdict on SC,ST act, attack on bhima koregaon protests by the extreme Hindu right groups, etc illustrate this resistance to parivar's politics of accommodation.
