Emerging challenge to Modi narrative in 2019

Three developments seems to be presenting a serious challenge to the BJP political narrative around invincibility of Modi in 2019. Firstly, the UP by-election results will emerge as a clear indication of the erosion in BJP vote and electoral arithmetic in the form of SP-BSP alliance is  resulting in political chemistry. Such formidable state specific alliances could prove to be a LITMUS TEST to Modi Juggernaut.

Secondly, the results in by-elections and local bodies elections in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh where BJP lost in a direct fight with the congress reveal that the saffron party would find it hard to retain the maximum number of seats it won in 2014 and these losses cannot in any way be compensated by the gains in the smaller states of the north east region.

Thirdly, the parties like SP and BSP attending Sonia Gandhi's dinner meet despite the former(SP) having no alliance with congress in the current by-poll and BSP joining hands with JDS against congress in Karnataka reveal the imminent possibility of Congress led mega alliance emerging before or after 2019 polls despite vulnerabilities in anti BJP rainbow coalition.
