Caiming that there were 100 per cent chances for hacking Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu warned that democracy could not be sacrificed to hackers. He demanded that the Election Commission (EC) of India either ensure VVPAT (voter-verified paper audit trail) receipts were issued 100 per cent or revert to the old ballot paper system.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday announced that the land restriction of five acres for availing the incentive under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana would be removed soon. Addressing a BJP election rally at Chikkodi of Belagavi district, Mr. Modi said, “We plan to remove the land restriction of five acres... We will give incentives to all types of farmers.”

EC had told all political parties to refrain from referring to the defence forces and jawans. However, PM has ignored the direction of the Election Commission and violated the MCC. PM’s remark was in violation of the EC’s directions to not use achievements of India’s armed forces for political campaigning.
